A ship is hoisted high above the waters of a river, serving as a monument to the town built into the cliffside surrounding it.

Destiny’s Point is settled on both sides of the River Innocence, built into the natural cliffs and hills. The tallest of these cliffs (at the Storm Spire) is nearly 200 feet high. Extending out from that cliff is a walkway to the remains of the ship Destiny—resting high above the town as a monument to its history.

Despite its size, Destiny’s Point is filled with diverse people, businesses, and experiences. Travelers from across the realms pass through regularly on trade routes. Many fall in love with the town and return as residents.

Atmosphere

Sounds of water (trickling streams, flowing waterfalls, rushing river).

Spectrum of color (blue, red, and gold rooftops, deep green of the forest, shimmering of the high sun upon the crystal waters).

Scents of fresh herbs and water (hints of peppermint, citrus, cedar, freshwater streams)

Background

Follow the River Innocence into the dark and magical woods of the Forest of the Ancients. There you will reach Destiny’s Point.

Legend has it that a hero known only as the Sword of Destiny sailed the ship Destiny from the Vega Cay and up the River Innocence on his way back from the Forgotten Lands. The ship crashed upon the rocks and he and his crew built Destiny’s Point. It became a trading landmark as the Great Red Road would meet the River Innocence here.

Over the last 500 years, the town has grown into a safe haven surrounded by the wild and dangerous forest.

Size

Destiny’s Point is a small town. At any given moment, only about 70% of the population are permanent residents—many living and working on nearby farms. The rest are passing through town along the Red Road.

  • 1429 active population
  • 1000 residents
  • 429 travelers

Government

Destiny’s Point is governed by a gerontocracy. The Town Elder maintains absolute authority while a Council of Truth works closely with them. The Town Elder is a man named Nicodaemus and the Council of Truth is currently made up of three older women.

Defenses

The towering trees provide some defense for the town, as well as the natural cliff faces into which it is built. Brath leads a garrison of a few dozen town guards that rotate shifts, volunteering to protect their home town. Most other combat-ready individuals are already fighting in the war at the borderlands.

Industry & Trade

Trade goods such as lumber, food, and herbs abound in the deep woods of surrounding the town. Hunters go ranging for small game such as squirrels and rabbits to larger game like deer and elk. Some even hunt for the legendary Shadow Elk. Rainbow trout and glimmerfish are abundant in the River Innocence. Various goods also arrive along the Red Road. Other imports include treasured shipments of glass and jewels from the Cradled Coast.

Common goods and supplies can be purchased from Isathil Thunderstone along with many treasures and rarities that he’s collected from his distant dealings.
